For CorelDRAW and any PDF · Mac & Windows (beta)

Nest your PDF, ready for the RIP. Beta

Drop the PDF of your kit. TrueNest finds the pieces by their shapes, nests them on your roll and gives you back a vector PDF with your design, your spot colours and, if your file has them, thin CutContour lines.

For print shops, sign makers and decal shops working in CorelDRAW or any other software that exports a PDF.

Trial: the full version of both tools, panel on 1 computer, no payment card. It stops by itself.

Included with every TrueNest Pro licence: one key, both tools. The panel inside Illustrator, and TrueNest CorelDRAW for PDF kits from any software, CorelDRAW included.

TrueNest CorelDRAW is in beta. It has run on real decal kits, including one from our own workshop, and checks every nested PDF before you save it. The Windows version is brand new: if anything looks off, write to us and we will fix it fast.

TrueNest CorelDRAW is included in your TrueNest Pro download link, right after your order, for Mac and Windows.

01 · Four steps

From exported PDF to a file for your RIP.

Your settings are remembered from one session to the next. After that, a kit is a drop, a click on Nest and a save.

  1. 01

    Export a PDF

From CorelDRAW, File > Publish to PDF (on a Mac, File > Export, then PDF), or the PDF export of any other software. Put the kit on the first page: that is the page TrueNest reads.

  2. 02

    Drop it in TrueNest CorelDRAW

Each sticker is found by its shape. Every spot colour and layer has a Print tick box, so guides and notes stay out.

  3. 03

    Nest

Set your roll width, the longest sheet you allow, the space between pieces and a search time from 10 seconds to 2 minutes. The best layout appears live, with the vinyl used and the fill. Stop and keep the best whenever you like.

  4. 04

Save it, ready for the RIP

You get a vector PDF with your design and spot colours as they were. If your file has cut lines, they follow their sticker and come out as thin CutContour lines. Up to 19 checks are read back from the written PDF before you save it.

02 · Pieces by shape

Each sticker is found by its shape.

Everything that prints and touches makes one piece: backgrounds (white ones too), strokes with their width, texts, images and gradients. The bleed is already inside the piece. No need to group.

  • Cut lines are optional. Closed lines in a CutContour spot colour, outline or fill, travel with their piece, holes and relief cuts included.
  • Without cut lines, every separate shape of the drawing is a piece.
  • If your file has cut lines, shapes without one (labels, notes, frames) are left out. One click nests them too.
  • The usual cut spot names are recognised: CutContour, Cut Contour, Thru-cut, Kiss-cut, Cutline, Contour, Cut, Découpe, Coupe.
  • Two pieces that overlap, each with its own cut line, stay two pieces.
  • Stickers placed beside the page, on the CorelDRAW desktop, are nested too. One click leaves them out.
  • Page-size backgrounds, frames around everything, layers that do not print and shapes under 20 mm² are left out, and the app tells you so.
  • When one background serves several stickers, each with its own cut line, the pieces are cut apart along their cut lines, with a bleed.
  • Prefer cut lines only? A second mode finds the pieces by their cut lines.
One thing to know

A sticker made of separate letters with no background needs its cut line, otherwise each letter becomes a piece. The same goes for two stickers whose designs touch: without cut lines, they become one piece.

A sticker kit with each piece outlined by its own shape, holes and relief cuts included

03 · One sheet or several

One page when it fits, several sheets when it does not.

If the kit fits on one page of your max length or less, you get one page, cut to the length used. If it does not, the kit is spread over several sheets of that length, the last one cut to what it uses. There is no box to tick: sheets are automatic.

All the sheets are searched as one job, and pieces move from one sheet to another during the search. The search runs on several cores of your computer at once: each one tries a different start and the best layout wins.

While it searches, you see the best layout with the real drawing, the vinyl used, the fill and the number of sheets. Stop and keep the best at any time.

Max width
Your roll width. 1300 mm by default.
Max length
The longest page you allow. 1000 mm by default.
Space between pieces
5 mm by default, measured between the edges of the shapes.
Bleed
Automatic by default: half the space, 3 mm at most, for pieces cut apart along their cut lines.
Rotation
Free, quarter turns only, half turns only, or none (as drawn).
Search time
10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes. Several sheets take a longer search.
Units
Millimetres or inches.

Example on our test Mac: a 62-piece kit spread over 3 sheets of 1000 mm took about 30 seconds with 10 seconds chosen.

04 · Finishing

Marks, layers and the order number, done before you save.

Tick only what your workflow needs. With every option off, the PDF is exactly what nesting alone gives.

01

Registration marks for 5 cutter presets

Graphtec CE7000 / FC9000, Summa OPOS X (roll cutters), Summa F Series (F1612), Summa Invicta and Valiani (beta: check your first sheet). Marks are pure black, on their own layer (Regmark by default), and by default room is reserved for them while nesting, so no piece lands on a mark. Each preset shows the setting to check on your machine.

02

Cut and print on separate layers

Cut lines go on a Cut layer and the artwork on a Print layer. Rename them the way your RIP expects.

03

Your cut spot name

CutContour by default, Cutting Table, or a name you type. Every cut line is then written in that spot colour: 0.25 pt, 100 %, overprint.

04

The order number on the sheet

Printed as outlines, so the RIP needs no font: 8 mm high, with a cut frame 3 mm around it, and with 1/3, 2/3... on a kit of several sheets. It is never kept for the next file.

Cut a test sheet before a big job, especially with registration marks. If your cutter reads a mark wrong, tell us: that is how the next version gets your machine right.

05 · Your files

Your files never leave your computer.

TrueNest CorelDRAW is an app on your Mac or PC. Reading the PDF, the search and the checks all run on your computer.

  • Nothing is uploaded: only your licence key is sent to TrueNest, to check it.
  • Everything the app needs to read and write PDFs is inside it.
  • Internet is needed for the licence only: at activation, then about once an hour of use, automatically.
  • If the connection drops, you keep working to the end of the current hour. After that, a new search or a save waits for the connection.

06 · Will it run here?

Check your computer and your file.

Mac
macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple silicon and Intel. A .dmg file of about 233 MB, about 510 MB once installed.
Windows
64-bit Windows. A .zip file of about 154 MB: unzip it and run TrueNest CorelDRAW.exe. The Windows version is brand new: if anything looks off, write to us and we will fix it fast.
Design software
CorelDRAW or any software that exports a PDF. Our test kits come from CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator. In Illustrator itself, the TrueNest Pro panel nests right inside your file.
Your PDF
The kit on the first page, which is the page TrueNest reads. No PDF security (password or restrictions). Spot colours kept with their names. Text exported as curves, so it nests by its real shape. PDF files only: export an .ai file to PDF first.
Cut lines
Optional. If you use them: closed lines in a spot colour named CutContour (or Thru-cut, Kiss-cut, Cut...), outline or fill. They follow their sticker.
From CorelDRAW
General: Acrobat 6, 8 or 9. Color: document colours, output Native, and leave Convert spot colors to unticked so CutContour keeps its name. Objects: tick Export all text as curves.
Good to know
An image counts as its whole rectangle (transparency is not read). Without cut lines, a coloured background smaller than the page, under the whole design, joins everything into one piece.
Cutters and RIP
A vector print-and-cut PDF for your RIP, with CutContour cut lines when your file has them. Cut a test sheet before a big job. Registration marks for Graphtec, Summa and Valiani presets (beta: check your first sheet).
Internet
For the licence only: at activation, then about once an hour of use, automatically.
Interface & units
English and French · mm or inches.
New versions
No automatic update: a new version is a new download, installed over the old one.
First launch
The installers are not signed by Apple or Microsoft, so the first launch asks for a confirmation. Mac: right-click the app, then Open, then Open (on macOS 15 or later: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway). Windows: if you see Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. Stuck? Write to support@gettruenest.com.

Do I pay extra for TrueNest CorelDRAW?

No. It comes with every TrueNest Pro licence: Solo, Studio, Lifetime and the free trial. The same key opens the Illustrator panel and TrueNest CorelDRAW, and TrueNest CorelDRAW does not use one of the computers of your plan.

I work in Illustrator. Which one should I use?

The TrueNest Pro panel: it nests inside your Illustrator file, with nothing to export. TrueNest CorelDRAW is for kits drawn in CorelDRAW or any other software that exports a PDF. Your licence opens both.

Does my file need cut lines?

No. Without cut lines, every separate shape of the drawing is a piece. With cut lines in a CutContour spot colour, each line travels with its sticker. Two cases need cut lines: a sticker made of separate letters with no background, otherwise each letter becomes a piece, and two stickers whose designs touch, otherwise they become one piece.

Where do I download it?

In the download link you receive right after your order: the Mac and Windows installers of TrueNest CorelDRAW are in it. Already a customer? Use the download link you received, or write to support@gettruenest.com.

Why does my computer ask for a confirmation at first launch?

The installers are not signed by Apple or Microsoft. On a Mac, right-click the app, then Open, then Open. On macOS 15 or later, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. On Windows, click More info, then Run anyway. Stuck? Write to support@gettruenest.com.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read, nested and checked on your computer. Only your licence key is sent to TrueNest, to check it, about once an hour of use.

How does the free trial work with TrueNest CorelDRAW?

It is the full version of both tools for 7 days (the panel on 1 computer), with no payment card, and it stops by itself. The download link comes right after your free order. If you use only TrueNest CorelDRAW, the 7 days count from that order, so start the trial when you have a real kit to nest. One trial per e-mail address.

How is it different from the online demo?

The online demo shows a kit nesting in your browser, and the result stays on the screen. TrueNest CorelDRAW is the full app: it saves the nested PDF ready for your RIP, on several sheets when needed, with the finishing options. It opens PDF files only: export an .ai file to PDF first.

Try it on your next PDF kit.

Full version of both tools, 7 days, no payment card. Drop one real kit, nest it, and cut a test sheet from the PDF.
